Three Day Monarch Butterfly Tour

Day 1 - Arrive in Morelia. Rocamar Tour operator will meet you at the bus station or airport and escort you to our 300 year old downtown hotel.

Day 2 - Following breakfast in the courtyard of our hotel we will enjoy a scenic drive to the monarch butterfly sanctuaries. Between November and March the Monarch Butterflies from the United States and Canada migrate to the pine forests of Michoacan. This afternoon we will explore one of Michoacan's most popular sanctuaries. A moderate fitness level is required to access the sanctuary. Overnight in the city of Zitacuaro.

Day 3 - As the sun warms the air we will hike into our favorite sanctuary, Sierra Pelon . We will spend the afternoon marvelling as millions of butterflies flit around us. This is truly an incredible sight. As an option, horses are available in this sanctuary. Late in the afternoon we will return to Morelia or guests may choose to travel to Mexico City directly from Zitacuaro.

Drop off at bus terminal or airport in Morelia or bus terminal in Zitacuaro for those wishing to return to Mexico City.
